COVID-19 Omicron virus not found in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Health

No COVID-19 Omicron virus has been found in Myanmar, only Delta species, according to the Ministry of Health.

As of December 11, it was found in 63 countries in some parts of the world, and according to the Ministry of Health, Myanmar is conducting genetic testing under the COVID-19 Migrant Surveillance Program for those who have returned from overseas and those who have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus and other priority groups.

On December 6, Taunggyi, Mandalay, Mawlamyine, Kyaing Ton Nay Pyi Taw Sixteen laboratory samples from Rangoon were tested in the military medical research, and 16 people were diagnosed with the COVID-19 mutation virus. The Ministry of Health says no Omicron virus has been found so far.

Of the 16 cases of delta virus, four were returned from Thailand; Two returned from Laos and two from Malaysia.

In addition, laboratory samples were sent to a laboratory in Thailand accredited by the World Health Organization. The Ministry of Health has announced that it is continuing its study of the Covid gene program.
