Former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has urged Liverpool to bring in a long-term replacement for the aging captain Jordan Henderson in the summer transfer window.

Phillips has backed Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jubilenham as the ideal replacement for Henderson.

Birmingham, who joined Dortmund from Birmingham for 25million in the summer of 2020, ignored offers from top English clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and became a key player in the Bundesliga club.

Birmingham has been in fine form for Dortmund this season, with his impact on the attack growing, scoring three goals and creating nine assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances for the club this season.

The 18-year-old England star has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

“Bellingham has developed into a top player at Dortmund,” said Phillips. He is only 18 years old, but his style of play is immature.

“I have heard that Liverpool are one of the clubs that are interested in Birmingham.

One of the reasons Liverpool are interested in this could be the replacement of captain Jordan Henderson.

I do not mean that Henderson’s career will end soon. He can still play at the top level for Liverpool for the next few years.

But in the long run, it is important to find and prepare a replacement. There is no question that Birmingham is the best player to replace him.

How much would his transfer cost be? Who knows for sure? To be sure, it will be at least သန်း 60 million.

Birmingham is a really talented young star and he could have improved a lot in Liverpool. You can see that every player has improved under Yagan.

“If Liverpool could sign Birmingham next summer, it would be a very good signing for them.” He said.
