Honor Magic Vs with new folding hinge

The global release of Honor’s second foldable smartphone has been announced.

The Galaxy Z Fold-style from Samsung The Honor Magic VS is the company’s second-generation foldable smartphone, featuring an internal 7.9-inch display and an external 6.45-inch cover display. This new model is reportedly thinner and lighter than Honor’s first folding phone, the Honor Magic V, which was introduced earlier this year. The company stated that it was able to reduce the weight thanks to a new high-tech hinge that will allow the display to close quietly and without making any noise when folded.

The Honor Magic VS features Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 12/256GB storage. In addition to the 12/512GB model, a less expensive 8GB/256GB model has also been offered. The Honor Magic VS, a foldable phone optimized for multitasking, is Bluetooth compatible with a new stylus called the Magic Pen. The foldable 7.9-inch OLED display features a resolution of 2272 x 1984p and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It has 800 nits of brightness, so at this point we can compare it to the first generation.

The outer cover display offers a resolution of 2560 x 1080p, a refresh rate of 120Hz, with HDR10+ compatibility. Both the internal and external displays are 10-bit panels, allowing for more than one billion million colors. According to Honor, the company’s latest foldable product employs a novel hinge technology that prevents the display from creasing when folded.

It is reported that Honor’s redesigned Hinge has enhanced durability and strength, as it is meticulously crafted using individual production techniques and only four materials, as opposed to 92. The new Honor hinge has been tested at Honor Labs to resist more than 400,000 folds, so it may be used for more than 10 years even if it folds 100 times each day.

As for the camera, a triple camera system with the same 54MP Sony IMX800 Main Sensor and f/1.9 lens as the Honor 70 Pro series is utilized. It is equipped with a 50MP camera that can be used as a macro lens, an ultrawide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. There is no mention of an internal camera, but the front cover display contains a 16MP selfie camera with a f/2.45 aperture.

The Honor Magic VS has a 5000 mAh battery with 66W charging, and it takes only 46 minutes to fully charge. The operating system is MagicOS 7.0, which is based on Android 12. It is available in three colors: Teal, Black, and Gold, which are limited to the highest RAM/Storage configurations. On the Chinese market, the 8/256GB variant is priced at 7,499 yuan (about 300,000 Burmese dollars). The 12/256GB model will be sold for 7,999 yuan (over 30,000 MYR), while the 12/512GB model will be sold for 8,999 RMB. Honor’s first foldable flagship phone will be released on the international market in the first quarter of 2023, according to an official announcement.
